Associate / Associate Director – Civil Engineer (Water / Wastewater) | Coventry\n\nA growing engineering consultancy is continuing to expand its water and wastewater capability and is now seeking an Associate / Associate Director Civil Engineer to join their newly acquired, Coventry-based office. With a strong regional presence and secured workloads across the West Midlands, the business is investing in senior leadership to establish and grow a new water engineering team within an already well-established office.\n\nThis is a senior leadership role offering a blend of technical delivery, team leadership and client-facing responsibility. The position would suit a Principal Engineer stepping up to Associate, or an Associate ready to move to Associate Director, who is motivated by the opportunity to shape a team and influence regional delivery.\n\nYour new role as Associate / Associate Director (Water)\n\nAs part of the senior team, you will take responsibility for the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, supporting clients from early engagement through to construction delivery.\n\nKey responsibilities will include:\n\n * Leading the delivery of water and wastewater projects across ECI and detailed design, primarily on D&B projects\n\n * Providing technical leadership and assurance across civil engineering design.\n\n * Establishing, leading and mentoring a new civil engineering team within the Coventry office.\n\n * Acting as a key client interface, supporting collaborative working and early contractor involvement.\n\n * Managing programme, resource planning and technical quality across multiple projects.\n\n * Supporting work winning activities and contributing to the growth of the regional water business.\n\n * Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, MEICA and environmental specialists.\n\nWhat you’ll need to succeed as Associate / Associate Director\n\nTo be considered for this role, you should demonstrate:\n\n * A degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline).\n\n * Strong experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.\n\n * Proven involvement in ECI, detailed design and design & build delivery models.\n\n * Experience operating at Principal or Associate level within a consultancy environment.\n\n * The capability to combine hands-on technical input with leadership and mentoring.\n\n * Chartered status with a relevant professional institution.\n\n * Confidence in client-facing roles and contributing to strategic growth.\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\n\nIn return, you’ll join a consultancy with a strong pipeline of water work and genuine ambitions for growth in the West Midlands.\n\nThe role offers:\n\n * Salary of £65,000 – £75,000, dependent on experience, and benefits package that includes;\n\n * Enhanced Pension\n\n * 25 days annual leave + stats\n\n * Private Medical Insurance, Income Protection & Life Assurance\n\n * A clear progression pathway\n\n * The opportunity to build and lead a new team, shaping how projects are delivered locally.\n\n * Long-term, secured workloads across regional water frameworks.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a senior civil engineer from a water background who wants to step into a broader leadership role while remaining closely involved in project delivery.\n\nFor a confidential discussion about this role or similar opportunities within the water sector, please get in touch
