The RoleWe are looking for a ‘Design Principal’ to join our fast-growing team, to partner with the VP, Customer Centred Design and the Service Design Director/Discipline Lead to drive and connect all Design activities across DCM projects, optimizing shared insights and collaboration across the business unit. This person will be passionate about building outstanding experiences and who thinks deeply about people, processes and systems. This person will be an inspirational people leader that really cares about developing our design talent and getting the best out of our Design Agency partners.You willBe an expert communicator, empowering and educating your team and stakeholders on all things Human-Centred Design, taking project leaders on a journey to truly understand the value of Design.Lead and nurture designers within projects to focus on understanding and utilizing human experience design practices for each step of the process.Build and iterate a cohesive view of the business unit service, using workshops, mentoring and best practices to facilitate the collaboration of all Design project leaders creating a seamless cohesive experience for both the end users and delivery teamsBe facilitator of visions and perspectives for all discipline peers in creating a shared vision and understanding of projects using the lenses of viability, desirability and feasibilityBe an expert in design thinking methodology practicesUnderstand different research methods and how to structure research to generate ideas and validate solutionsBe able to lead and empower both BP designers as well as multi-disciplined design teams provided by our agency partners and enable collaboration and insights sharing across project teamsJob AdvertYour AccountabilitiesWorking with the VP, Customer Centred Design to:Lead your business unit(s) and projects in all things Design by collaborating closely with Business PartnersBuild the team for today whilst maintaining and working towards a future-state of Design excellenceImplement the processes and ways of working through which Design will be executedWork with the HXD discipline leads to establish a benchmark of consistent and reusable standards of DesignEmploy empathy towards stakeholdersWork alongside Product Managers and Owners to input directly into their commercial and technical roadmapsOversee designers from various agenciesContinually refine process leading to optimal efficiencyA key contributor in thought leadership around the Design disciplineEstablish direct reports, mentorship team wide and provide pastoral care to all team membersBecome the key member of the team in recruiting global top talent into BPHost and organise digital networking eventsShare success stories from the team to the wider organisationDemonstrate how Design can contribute to significant cost-savings and ROILadder-up the design team to the wider strategic pillars (for example efficiency and cost savings, better customer outcomes, Net Zero, flawless execution, financial prudence)Be involved in programme-wide project planning Nice to haveAn ability to participate in technical discussions to bring clarity of deliverablesSupport to Design opsAn understanding of OPEX and CAPEX to help inform team budgetsCollaborating with the other senior staff to demonstrate a case for investmentInput into Senior Leadership Team forums You’re Required to haveBS/MS Degree; preference for Human Computer Interaction, Service Design, or Computer Science; or equivalent experience.Proficiency in using all design tools such as Adobe, Sketch, Figma, Invision and Zeplin.Experience working as a Design lead with an in-house Design team or at a Design agency.Experience of leading a wide range of team sizes from project specific to discipline teams.Knowledge of Agile or Lean UX or product methodologies and experience working in a collaborative, agile environment.A portfolio that highlights your approach to problem solving coupled with your skills in service design, research, user experience, and design (both visual and interaction)Strong written and verbal communication skills EntityInnovation & EngineeringJob Family GroupIT&S GroupRelocation availableNoTravel requiredYes - up to 10%Time TypeFull timeCountryUnited KingdomAbout BPINNOVATION & ENGINEERINGJoin us in creating, growing, and delivering innovation at pace, enabling us to thrive while transitioning to a net zero ‎world.
