This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong HGV maintenance background who enjoys problem-solving, inspections and ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.\nUnlike traditional technician roles, the majority of your time will be spent carrying out vehicle inspections, auditing maintenance quality and supporting fleet compliance, with only occasional hands-on repair work required.\nWhat's on Offer?\n * £50,000 basic salary\n * Annual profit share scheme\n * Company vehicle and tools provided\n * Monday to Friday day shifts\n * 45-hour working week\n * Travel between sites included within your working hours\n * Excellent work-life balance\n * Typically one overnight stay per week, fully funded by the business where required\n * Stable, long-term opportunity within a growing fleet operation\nThe Role\nWorking across a network of operational sites, you will be responsible for ensuring HGVs and trailers are maintained safely, legally and to the highest quality standards.\nKey responsibilities include:\n * Inspecting HGVs and trailers following servicing, maintenance and MOT work\n * Auditing the quality of repairs completed by third-party maintenance providers\n * Carrying out fleet compliance inspections and vehicle condition assessments\n * Identifying defects, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement\n * Completing minor repairs and defect rectification where required\n * Supporting vehicle roadworthiness and legal compliance\n * Ensuring fleet standards align with Operator Licence requirements\n * Working closely with depot teams and external maintenance providers\n * Assisting with vehicle inspection processes and driver defect reporting standards\nApproximately 75% of the role is focused on inspections, audits and compliance activities, with around 25% involving hands-on maintenance and repairs.\nAbout You\nTo be considered, you'll need:\n * Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Fleet Engineer, Workshop Controller or similar\n * A recognised vehicle maintenance qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)\n * Strong understanding of HGV maintenance and repair standards\n * Experience identifying defects and assessing vehicle roadworthiness\n * Knowledge of fleet compliance and Operator Licence requirements\n * Excellent communication and organisational skills\n * Full UK Driving Licence\nWhy Apply?\nThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HGV professional who wants to use their technical expertise in a more varied and autonomous role.\nWith paid travel forming part of your working week, minimal nights away from home, a strong salary package and annual profit share scheme, this role offers an excellent balance between responsibility, flexibility and quality of life.\nApply today for a confidential discussion
