Managing Legal Counsel

Our Global Legal Team is a key enabler of our firm’s success, helping to drive impact and progress across a number of important dimensions.As a Legal team member, you will work across BCG teams and functions to support our business strategy, provide counsel and expertise, drive legal innovation, and leverage the power of new ways of working.Managing Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracting is expected to be a seasoned and skilled lawyer, able to independently address the full range of global legal issues facing BCG and with a particular expertise in all aspects of commercial contracting. Among other things, you will:Be a fully integrated member of BCG’s Global Legal Team, with a primary focus on commercial matters, commercial risk identification, and internal process improvement, particularly for BCG’s operations in London and the broader EMESA regionServe as champion of BCG contracting and risk management standardsDraft, review, and negotiate a wide array of complex commercial agreements, including global master services agreements, other client and vendor agreements, licensing agreements, subcontractor and partnership agreements, nondisclosure agreements, technology transactional matters and variable pricing agreementsBe experienced in quickly and independently redlining and custom-drafting legal documentsImplement and help to develop and champion BCG contracting and other policies and processes and provide assistance to seek approvals on deviations of contract or other policiesProvide general counseling and management of a full spectrum of business and legal issues, which, in addition to general commercial matters includes particular focus on licensing and intellectual property topics, digital and technology, data protection, competition law and trade regulations, conflicts of interest, and other legal mattersIdentify risks and issues; suggest alternative solutionsTeam successfully across BCG and integrate fully into BCG’s Global Legal Team to resolve or support resolution of complex legal issuesAct as bridge and point of contact between functions and business for resolving legal issuesContribute to developing and maintaining Legal Team know-how, templates, technology solutions, and other key enablersManaging and directing consulting teams to ensure compliance with privacy laws including General Data Protections Regulations (GDPR) and data security; conducting investigations in the event of data breaches and reporting findings and recommendations for improvementsManaging and directing consulting teams to navigate regulatory compliance issuesPerforming other duties as assigned or requiredYOU'RE GOOD ATIn all cases, BCG’s Managing Legal Counsel will be an exceptional lawyer, able to efficiently deliver high quality work, and will have substantial experience advising on and negotiating large commercial programs by deploying a strategic, outcome-based perspective to transactions.A Managing Legal Counsel has the following skillsSuperior analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability, with an appreciation for striking a practical balance between business and legal objectivesTalent for absorbing new skill sets and areas of expertise quickly and comfortably and the flexibility to deal with a diverse international set of clients and advisorsThe ability to quickly comprehend complex sets of international laws and regulations and interpret those laws within the context of BCG’s global policiesA positive, dynamic, client-focused approach to legal practicePerform successfully and produce results in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, client-oriented environmentSuperior communication skillsBe a pragmatic, high-energy professional, with personal and professional self-confidenceHave the interpersonal skills necessary to build relationships throughout a loosely structured organizationComfortable with technology and systems that are used in daily work, including contract lifecycle software, Slack, and other platformsDeploying and driving large scale legal change efforts, influencing stakeholders and ensuring ongoing awareness and compliance with contracting policiesBe comfortable with assessing, presenting, and mitigating legal risksAbility to handle high-pressure situationsYOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)Graduate degree (J.D.) in Law from an accredited law school and admitted to practice10+ years of commercial contracting experience with international exposure5+ years with a reputable law firm preferable; prior relevant in-house experience preferredExcellent written and oral communication skillsEnglish fluency; other languages a plusYOU'LL WORK WITHYou will work with a variety of cohorts and functions across the company, including senior leadership. Members of the BCG Global Legal team, Finance, and the Partnership. You will report into the Commercial group within the Legal Team.
