The Role

As the Nursery Baby Room Leader, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Baby Room, leading a team of Early Years Practitioners and ensuring exceptional standards of care and education.

You will play a key role in supporting children's early development while creating a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment where every child can thrive.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of Early Years practitioners
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture
  • Mentor and develop staff through coaching and regular feedback
  • Ensure consistently high standards of practice across the Baby Room
Early Years Education & Child Development
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities in line with the EYFS Framework
  • Create rich learning opportunities that support children's development
  • Observe, assess, and monitor progress effectively
  • Support children's emotional wellbeing, attachment, and communication skills
  • Maintain accurate learning and development records
Safeguarding & Child Welfare
  • Promote and maintain the highest safeguarding standards
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene procedures
  • Complete risk assessments and maintain a safe environment
  • Act as a role model for safeguarding best practice
Parent Partnerships
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers
  • Share regular updates on children's progress and development
  • Respond professionally and sensitively to queries and concerns
  • Encourage strong home-learning partnerships
Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Maintain compliance with EYFS and nursery policies
  • Complete accurate documentation and record-keeping
  • Support nursery audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all regulatory standards are consistently met
Person SpecificationEssential Requirements
  • Level 3 Childcare Qualification or equivalent recognised Early Years qualification
  • Extensive experience within a nursery or Early Years setting
  • Previous experience as a Baby Room Leader, Room Leader, Senior Nursery Practitioner, or similar leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Passion for providing outstanding childcare and education
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
Desirable
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification
  • Experience working within an international school or nursery
  • Experience supporting diverse and multicultural communities
