Schools Liaison Manager

Job Description

Woodard is a significant educational charity, founded on the vision of Canon Nathaniel Woodard, and committed to providing high-quality education within an actively Christian school environment for all. Today, Woodard educates more than 30,000 pupils across academy, independent and state-maintained schools. This role offers the right candidate a distinctive opportunity to contribute to that mission by providing valued support across the Corporation, its Board and its schools.

The post sits within a small Head Office team which supports Woodard’s work across its family of schools. Although we have an office in London, Head Office staff work remotely from locations across the UK, and this role will primarily be home-based. Some travel will be required to schools and other locations, as set out in the job description, together with occasional attendance at the London office. The Woodard Corporation Head Office is currently being restructured, and this is a new post designed to strengthen the service we provide to our Board and schools.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Provost, the Reverend Dr Matt Bullimore, the Schools Liaison Manager supports collaboration across the Woodard family of schools by building effective relationships, coordinating networks and events, and providing practical support to senior colleagues and committees. Applications from candidates at different stages of their careers will be welcomed, including recent graduates and those returning to work after a career break.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake school visits to build relationships, understand local priorities, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Provide support to the Woodard Heads’ Association (WHA), including planning and delivery of the annual conference and follow-up activity.
  • Set up and maintain effective digital networks across the Woodard family to support communication and sharing of best practice.
  • Develop and manage a calendar of enrichment events, supporting schools to host family events and share learning.
  • Work with the Woodard Academy Trust and the Incorporated Schools to support sixth-form enrichment.

The Ideal candidate will be/demonstrate:

  • A graduate (or equivalent) with relevant experience.
  • A strong understanding and experience of education and schools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong experience in comms and written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
  • Confidence using AI tools to support business processes.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team; proactive and curious with a flexible approach.
  • Willingness to travel and to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (or hold a current certificate).
  • Sympathetic to Christian values.

The Woodard Schools have retained Wild Search to support them on this appointment.
