About the Service The Coves is a community based crisis alternative service, provided by Hestia on behalf of Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, offering non-clinical support to individuals experiencing a crisis or mental distress. We offer urgent appointments to make sure each person gets dedicated time and support. We provide a welcoming, safe and supportive space as well as a hot drink and a snack, for anyone (16+ in Brent) who is assessed to be experiencing or are at risk of developing mental health distress. The Coves aim to equip people with the skills they need to reduce their immediate anxiety, formulate individual self-directed support plans and provide them with information / advice around the local services and resources that may help them moving forward. About the role The Young People's Recovery Worker role would involve providing specialist and dedicated support to 16 to 25 year olds at the Brent Cove, as well as providing outreach support and engagement with YP within the Brent community. The YP support will be fully integrated in the Brent Cove service, complementing the existing support provision at the Cove as well as developing new crisis pathways for YP i.e. diversion from A&E. About you Demonstrable experience of working with individuals who have experienced mental health and / or dual diagnosis issues Knowledge of issues affecting those individuals with a range of mental health conditions including crisis management, how to communicate effectively with these individuals and how to support them with dignity and respect. Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation i.e. Care Program Approach (CPA) processes Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range of recovery approaches Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to oversee induction of new peer staff and volunteers Ability to work with statutory services i.e. NHS at the front line Working with Peer Support Workers as an integral part of the team Awareness of health and safety issues Ability to work at evenings, weekends and bank holidays - Service opening times are: 14:00 – 22:00 Monday – Sunday including bank holidays Good IT skills that includes a working knowledge of functions in MS Word, Outlook and the internet Good literacy and numeracy skills, able to produce clear written correspondence in hard copy or email Ability to complete and record basic financial transactions, i.e. managing petty cash Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately Please note If offered a role with Hestia, you will be issued a conditional offer based on satisfactory references and an Enhanced disclosure/DBS check.
